Job Summary
- Perform a variety of complex clinical cardiopulmonary care procedures as prescribed by a physician.
- Adheres to the provisions of the Compliance Program by complying with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to work after-hours-call and overtime when workload demand requires it.
- Will maintain a patient-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur to ensure patient satisfaction is met at all times.
- Will be proficient in all modes of Oxygen Therapy, Aerosol Therapy, Chest Physiotherapy, and Hyperinflation Therapy. Complete tracheostomy care, intra-tracheal suctioning, prolonged artificial ventilation, mask and nasal continuous positive airway pressure ventilation, endotracheal intubation, and extubation.
- Performs EKG, Holter Monitoring, and Pulmonary Function testing.
- Perform basic maintenance to all cardiopulmonary equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Louisiana Respiratory Therapist License and national accreditation as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist.
- Current PALS, ACLS, BLS, MOAB – available onsite.
Physical Requirements
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing. Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.
- Ability to regularly lift, move, or carry items weighing up to 10 pounds. Frequently lift, move, or carry items up to 25 pounds. Occasionally assist in the movement of patients/equipment that weigh more than 100 pounds.
